Children’s Ministry

The Children’s Ministry at The Bible Church of Little Rock has the primary goal of seeing that children discover who God is through the Word of God so that they will be convicted of their lost condition and turn to Christ for salvation. The Bible provides two clear emphases for this goal to be achieved. These emphases are the priority of godly parenting (which is supported by the local church), and the responsibility of children to respond rightly to this godly parenting. Below is a summary of the curriculum we are using.

He established a testimonyHe has spoken by His Son Preschool | These two collections are Old Testament and New Testament story references in chronological order. Each lesson identifies and reinforces key Biblical themes like “Faith pleases God,” and “Jesus Christ is God”. Teachers study the Bible using the key themes to prepare for each lesson. Each lesson also includes a parent resource page to help parents interact with their children over the Word.
The ABC's of God Kindergarten | Right thinking about God is essential for the life of faith. Using the alphabet as a framework for teaching the attributes of God, this study explores the delight that God has in Himself as the source, means, and purpose of all things. Each lesson asks and answers three key questions Who is God? What is He like? How should I act toward Him? as it presents a theology of God for children.
1st and 2nd Grade | This curriculum is set up to chronologically teach through the Bible, from Creation to Christ! The meaning of the gospel takes on new significance with the right foundation, and there will be a complete understanding of what Christ accomplished on the Cross! This curriculum was developed for missionary outreach to pagan cultures that had no foundational knowledge of Christianity. This same approach needs to be used in our western world, with apologetic teaching added to the beginning of each course to defend creation and oppose evolution. This would give a tremendous foundation for children and adults to be able to understand and defend the Scriptures in this secular age.
Faithful to all His promises 3rd Grade | God’s promises are gifts to the believer. The challenge of the Christian life is not to simply know the promises of God, but to place unshakeable confidence in them. This study teaches children that God’s character is trustworthy, therefore, His promises are true and reliable.
My purpose will stand 4th Grade | God is not an idle God. He is continually involved with all created things, directing them to accomplish His eternal purposes. This study teaches children to recognize God’s providence in their lives and to joyfully trust His good purposes for them. Each lesson reveals that God is the sovereign ruler of the universe whose eye is watching over all things, whose hand is working in all things.
To be like Jesus 5th and 6th Grade | What is salvation? How does someone become a Christian? What does it really mean to become like Jesus? This curriculum helps answer these important questions by carefully explaining elements of the Gospel message, its purpose, and promise. A major portion of this study focuses on the doctrine of sanctification – the process by which a Christian becomes more and more conformed to the likeness of Jesus. By carefully studying some of the commands of Jesus, this curriculum leads the students to a clear understanding of what it means to respond to God in faith and obedience.
