“What makes up the essence of exactly how to live the Christian life?” “What are the irreducible minimums of what it means to please and obey God?” “When you break it all down, how can I know that I am really following God as He desires?” Of course, you could go to the New Testament answer of Jesus, who said in Matthew 22 that to love God and one’s neighbor is the absolute essence of what it means to fulfill the whole law, but there are—as you well know—a whole host of other commands in Scripture that show us exactly just how to love God and our neighbor.
